Here are a few tips to keep your information safe this holiday season: Watch where you shop – It’s great to support small, local business, but makes sure whatever website you are entering your personal information on is secure. Look for “HTTPS” at the front of the webpage in the address bar of your browser. Don’t use weak passwords – Scammers love easy passwords. Do yourself a favor by making your passwords complex, using a combination of upper- and lower-case letters, symbols and numbers. And, yes, it’s so much easier to remember if you use the same password for every account, but it could lead to a hacker gaining access to multiple accounts. Have unique passwords for every account. Avoid public Wi-Fi – Free public Wi-Fi is a hacker’s playground. Only use trusted and secured networks when making online purchases. Shred documents – Shopping online can produce extra paper documents to contend with, such as receipts, shipping labels, packing slips and return labels.
